Please join us Thursday evenings for a free four-part series about how shopping at local farmers' markets can benefit you and your family. Each class will include a discussion and recipe demonstration. Samples and recipes provided.

Lesson 1: This class will cover My Plate and we will discuss the benefits and barriers to shopping at farmers' markets. We will also discuss when certain fruits and vegetables will be in season, which provides the best taste and nutrition. The recipe demonstration will show how to use in season produce in a salad.

Lesson 2: This class will discuss how to fit shopping at the farmers' market into your menu plan and how to make your meal plan flexible to accommodate different offerings. The recipe demonstration will be a soup made using in season produce.

Lesson 3: This class will discuss ways to include more fruits and vegetables in your meals. We will also discuss how to properly store and freeze produce from the farmers' market. We will be making a fruit-based dessert during the class, samples and recipes provided.

Lesson 4: In our final class we will use all the beneficial information from our previous classes and show how implement it to improve family mealtime. A quick and easy stir fry using fresh produce will be our final recipe demonstration.
